Kevin recalls, “in 1975, ambulances had four beds — two lower and two upper — with paramedics often working between multiple patients, a stark contrast to today’s standards.”

From those early days, their careers took them on unique paths across Victoria, each making an indelible impact on their respective regions.

Kevin has spent much of his working life serving the Frankston area, becoming a familiar and trusted presence for locals.

Known for his calm demeanor and firm devotion, Kevin has responded to countless emergencies, offering care and support to those in need.

Reflecting on his time at AV, Kevin said, “every shift has been an opportunity to make a difference. It’s been a privilege to serve the community and to be part of an incredible team.”

Phil’s journey started in the Shepparton area, where he worked tirelessly to qualify as a Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedic.

Over the years, he became a cornerstone of the community, renowned for his advanced clinical skills and kindness.

Whether delivering critical interventions or mentoring the next generation of paramedics, Phil’s contributions have left a mark.

“The Hume region has been my home and my workplace, and I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some of the best in the field,” Phil said.

“The relationships I’ve built and the lives I’ve had the chance to impact are what I’ll treasure most.”

As Kevin and Phil retire, they leave behind more than just years of service; they leave a shared legacy of excellence, mentorship and compassion.

Their careers have been defined by their tireless commitment to their patients and communities, as well as their ability to adapt and thrive in a profession that has seen immense change over the decades.

Their retirement marks the end of an era, but their impact will continue to be felt through the lives they’ve touched and the colleagues they’ve inspired.
