Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission Report
Independent Review into Workplace Equality
Ambulance Victoria is committed to creating a safer, more inclusive and more equal workplace based on recommendations from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.
Our Board Chair Ken Lay AO APM and CEO Prof. Tony Walker ASM engaged the Commission to conduct an independent review after allegations emerged publicly and privately in late October 2020 of discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation at Ambulance Victoria.
On Thursday 31 March, 2022, the Commission published the full report and framework that will serve as our guide to the long-term reforms needed in our workplace. Ambulance Victoria has accepted all 43 of the Commission’s recommendations.
We deeply regret the harm suffered by our people, past and present, as a result of bullying, sexual harassment, discrimination and victimisation, as well as the harm caused when our systems haven’t been fit for the advancement of equality, fairness and inclusion for our people.
Our work is well underway and we are setting up the foundations needed to create a workplace that is based on safety, respect and trust, equality, fairness and inclusion, in line with the Commission’s detailed work and findings.
