Ambulance Victoria Board statement on CEO resignation

August 20, 2024 | in News

Ambulance Victoria Chief Executive Jane Miller has decided to resign from her position to pursue a new opportunity within the Victorian health sector.

The Ambulance Victoria Board today acknowledged Ms Miller’s tireless dedication to the health of all Victorians, and the experience and leadership she has brought to the role since joining in January 2023.

Board Chair Shelly Park said Ms Miller had joined during a time when the health system was emerging from the most serious impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jane has seen the organisation through some significant challenges, including leading the post-pandemic recovery, and helping chart a course for ongoing cultural reform and improvement,” she said.

“She has been instrumental in the development of AV’s Strategic Plan 2023 – 2028: Transforming for Better and has been an enthusiastic leader in supporting the critical role of our paramedics and first responders.”

Former Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp AM APM has been appointed Interim CEO for a six-month period while recruitment is underway, which Ms Park said would provide the organisation and staff with continuity.

“Andrew has had a distinguished 45-year career leading the state through emergencies and at Victoria Police, and AV will benefit from his significant experience and unwavering commitment to keeping Victorians safe,” Ms Park said.

Mr Crisp has been a Director on the Ambulance Victoria Board since 1 July 2024, and will pause those duties when he takes on the CEO role from 21 August 2024.
