Ambulance Victoria (AV) has five helicopters and four planes that help connect rural areas with hospitals in cities. This service is crucial for patients living far from major health facilities, ensuring they get quick medical care. Air Ambulance Victoria (AAV) retrieve and treat around 6000 patients per year.

Emergency helicopters

AV operates five emergency helicopters located in:

  • Essendon.
  • Latrobe Valley.
  • Bendigo.
  • Warrnambool.

These AgustaWestland AW139 Rotary Wing helicopters are mainly used for serious emergencies, like trauma and peadiatric cases.

Fixed-wing aircraft

AV also has four King Air B-200 planes. These planes are used for emergencies and for transporting patients who need regular treatments such as chemotherapy.
