VEOHRC Review

Ambulance Victoria is working toward our shared vision of a safe, fair and inclusive workplace.

In late 2020, Board Chair Ken Lay AO APM and CEO Prof. Tony Walker ASM engaged the Commission to conduct an independent review and in March 2022 the Commission published its full report and framework.

In July 2022 we released Safe Fair Inclusive: Your AV Roadmap 2022-27, our official response to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission’s independent review of Ambulance Victoria.

AV accepted all 43 of the Commission’s recommendations.

In mid-2024, the Commission assessed the extent to which the priority recommendations have been implemented, and in January 2025 published its progress evaluation report.

As a result of our people’s stories and experiences, together with the Commission’s expertise, we now have a deep understanding of what we need to do to create an Ambulance Victoria that is safe, fair and inclusive for everyone.

We thank the Commission for its extensive work and guidance over the past few years.

Most of all, we thank everyone who has participated in this process by sharing their personal stories, experiences, and challenges they face. Their contributions offer a deeper understanding of what’s required to guide our change journey.

We look forward to working with our people and our partners as we continue our important cultural reform.

Your AV Roadmap

Ambulance Victoria’s YourAV Roadmap is our plan to create a safe, fair and inclusive workplace that works for our people.

It is based on the experiences and views you shared about the state of equality in the organisation – what we’re doing well, but, importantly, what we haven’t done well.

The Roadmap sets out how we plan to transform our organisation through implementing 43 recommendations from the Commission that we accepted in full.
